Clone happens.
Tonight I sat in on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was basically a big screen version of the animated show. I didn't think it was that bad, it could have been better, but then I think that of the cartoon too. Sam Jackson actually did his own voice for it, so that was a plus. Overall, the best parts were the clones and the droids getting shot to hell. If I had to find a gripe about the show, it would be no General Grievous. C'mon he could have been as arbitrarily thrown in as Padme was. Oh well, maybe next time.

Movies that sneak up on you.
Every once in a while you just happen to run across one of those movies you know very little about, save for maybe the title of the movie. Curiosity wins out and you watch said movies with a fresh perspective on what you see. Tonight I watched a movie called In Bruges, and I feel like I've found buried treasure. This movie is a dark (and I emphasize dark) comedy. I know the greater population of the world will not find this movie funny, but I did. Granted there were some really crappy things that happened in the movie and made you fee like pond scum, but at the same time there were moments where I laughed so hard I almost passed out. What is the movie about? A couple of hit men hiding out after a job gone wrong, very wrong, and you find out just how wrong. . .and wackiness ensues.

Ode to stoners.
Ask anyone that knows me, I'm not much of a comedy movie fan. Oh yeah I have some favorite comedies, but on the whole I don't watch the genre much. However, when it comes to comedies per se I have two weaknesses, Kevin Smith movies and pothead movies. Granted those are one in the same in a couple of cases, but the movie de jour for this evening had nothing to do with Kevin Smith, sadly, so that leaves pothead movies, or Pineapple Express in this case. Funny movie, I laughed way too hard, and now I'm paying for it (damn lungs). The one thing this movie stired in me, was not to partake of the reefer, but to watch Freaks and Geeks again. James Franco and Seth Rogan togther again, it brought a nostaglic tear to my eye. Good job guys.

Are you my Mummy?
Despite all the reasons that I should have disliked it, I couldn't help but enjoy the latest film in the Mummy franchise, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Granted it wasn't deep or thought provoking, but it was just plain old movie fun, which is what I look for in a Mummy movie anyway. My favorite thing in the movie were the yetis, I need to find one of them to watch my back when the monkey apocalypse begins. I hope they keep these movies going though, as long as they stay away from anything involving the Scorpion King.
